Abstract The research findings on the current state of school psychological counseling needs among lower secondary school students in Yên Định District, Thanh Hóa Province, indicate that students exhibit a moderate to moderately high demand for psychological counseling services. Among the various domains, the highest demand is observed in the area of communication with peers of the opposite sex, followed by communication with parents and family members, communication with friends, interaction with teachers, and, lastly, psychological counseling related to academic activities. A thorough examination of the psychological counseling needs of lower secondary students in Yên Định District provides valuable insights for schools, educators, and parents in identifying appropriate measures to effectively address and support students' mental health needs in the school setting.
