Abstract

The study was conducted in Quang Xuong district, Thanh Hoa province to assess the current status of pests and diseases and the need for use of biological products to control pests on Kim Hoang Hau melon plants. The results of the study showed that root rot, seedling dieback and powdery mildew are common diseases that damage Kim Hoang Hau melon plants. Regarding harmful insects, aphids and whiteflies appear quite commonly and cause the most damage compared to other harmful insects. The results of the household interview survey showed that the majority of melon farmers, accounting for 72-82% of the respondents, desire to use biological products to replace or limit the use of chemical products in protection of crops and consumer health.
