Abstract
The study was conducted from 2022-2023 with the goal of providing evidence on the current state of drug quality, identifying limitations, and proposing solutions to enhance the capacity of drug quality control, inspection and supervision, thereby contributing to ensuring the quality of medicines for patients in Thanh Hoa. The results reveal that the organizational structure of the Thanh Hoa Testing Center is reasonable and effectively fulfills its professional functions. The annual operating budget of the Center increased progressively from 2020 to 2022 (from 1.920 billion in 2020; 2.295 billion in 2021 and 2.590 billion in 2022). In term of sample quality, the highest percentage of samples meeting quality standards was recorded in 2022 (99.2%), whereas the lowest percentage occurred in 2021 (93.3%). The highest number of unqualified samples was observed in 2021 (6.6%), while the lowest was in 2022 (0.4%).
The highest number of counterfeit drug samples was documented in 2022 (0.4%), with the lowest occurrence in 2020 (0.09%). The frequency of sample checks and the submission of samples per year vary significantly across regions, with the highest frequency observed in urban areas and the lowest in high mountainous regions (60 times compared to once, and 30 times compared to once, respectively).
