Abstract

The purpose of this study is to compare, evaluate and determine the most effective irrigation method for green asparagus production. The experiment was carried out in 2021, in Hoang Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province, with 3 irrigation methods including furrow irrigation (the control), drip irrigation, and sprinkler irrigation, corresponding to 3 models of 500m2 each. The study results showed that 3 irrigation methods had different effects on the growth, development, yield-forming components and the yield of the green asparagus.
Specifically, with drip irrigation method, the height of asparagus shoots, stem number/a clump, stem diameter, and shoot length were higher than those of sprinkler irrigation and significantly higher than those of furrow irrigation method. In particular, the drip irrigation provided the highest yield of 21.2 tons/ha, the sprinkler irrigation yielded 18.8 tons/ha, and the lowest yield was only 16.9 tons/ha for furrow irrigation. In terms of economic efficiency, the sprinkler irrigation method gave the highest net profit of 517 million VND/ha/year, followed by the drip irrigation formula with 410 million VND/ha/year, and the lowest profit came to the furrow irrigation formula with 330 million VND/ha/year.
