“The second sex” awareness in novels written by Nguyen Khac Ngan Vi

Abstract
“The second sex” awareness is a type of gender awareness, feminist consciousness. This kind of awareness is formed when females realize, evaluate their “second sex” position in the relation with society, with males and themselves. In Nguyen Khac Ngan Vi novels, “the second sex” awareness is illustrated in the sense of unfortunate, painful identity in Vietnamese modern society. In addition, this awareness also pushes females to many conflicts which exist in themselves. To deal with that situation, elusive status is a way for females to be against the lower position which is set by society’s prejudice.
