Abstract

The Nguyen Dynasty ended less than a century ago. Research works on the history of the Nguyen Dynasty are still controversial. There are even fewer female literary works about the history of the Nguyen Dynasty, especially the history associated with the fate of women. In order to explore the gender-imprinted characteristics of women's literature on historical topics, this article presents a period of Nguyen Dynasty history (from the time Nguyen Anh fled to the South with Lord Nguyen Phuc Thuan, until Nguyen Anh returned to Phu Xuan and ascended the throne, completing his imperial career), through the perspective of female writers. Through three arguments: Writing about the history of the Nguyen Dynasty as a choice; Interpretation and dialogue about the "historical truths" of the Nguyen Dynasty; The tragic fate of the beautiful women of the Nguyen Dynasty; the article contributes to identifying a history of the Nguyen Dynasty through the pages of women's literature in Vietnam.
