Abstract

The income of elderly individuals can originate from multiple sources, encompassing labor participation, state budget allocations, assistance from their children, and personal earnings. Nevertheless, as the health of the elderly deteriorates and healthcare demands rise, ensuring the financial well-being of this demographic becomes imperative. This article aims to provide a concise evaluation of the distinct factors influencing the income security of the elderly, specifically focusing on the receipt of cash or in-kind support from their children. Using the Propit model, an analysis is conducted to examine the factors affecting the rate of cash or in-kind assistance of elderly parents residing in rural and urban areas in Vietnam receiving from their children. The analysis draws upon data from the 2021 Population Change Survey conducted by the General Statistics Office.
