Abstract

Ngoc Lac is a district in the Western mountainous area of Thanh Hoa province, it has rich nature and unique culture to develop diverse types of tourism such as community tourism, cultural tourism, eco-tourism, and leisure tourism. The research uses SWOT methods to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges for the tourism development of Ngoc Lac district. The results of the study have clearly shown the advantages of Ngoc Lac district in tourism development including: natural tourism resources (cave, river, lake, creatures, etc.), cultural resources (historical sites, festivals, customs and ethnic cultural values), policy guidelines, market trends, and connectivity. In addition, the district also faces limitations such as the loss of ethnic cultural values, labor qualifications, weak infrastructure and technical facilities, and competitiveness.
