Abstract

This article studies innovations in the plots of Franz Kafka's short stories. Kafka rarely builds the plot based on external actions of the characters; the basic element of the plot is no longer the system of external events that create the moving form of the plot. On the other hand, in many of his short stories, the plot is simply fictionized, seemingly without any needs for arrangement. Kafka no longer considers plot the most attractive element of short stories. With his short stories, Kafka directs readers to the depth of thoughts to discover their meanings.
