Abstract
Religious symbols hold a significant place in traditional Japanese culture. Religion and beliefs are deeply-rooted in Japanese culture with cherry blossoms, white snow, mirrors, crane wings, tea ceremonies, travellers, etc. This creates a very unique beauty. Kawabata's works crystallize the spirit of national culture. Religion becomes a unique “symbol” through the words. Through decoding religious symbols in “Snow Country”, we hope to explore the rich and diverse artistic world of the talented writer Kawabata.
