Abstract

This article studies typical and prominent narrative art forms in the “The Things They Carried” by Tim O'Brien, an American writer. We focus on exploiting and analyzing to clarify the artistic characteristics that have contributed to the unique characteristics and marks of Tim O'Brien's writing style. This is his third collection of stories about war, based on his experiences as a soldier in the 23rd US Infantry Division who fought in Vietnam. Although the discourse on war is not entirely new, the way and repentance that Tim O'Brien shows in delivering the message is so special that it haunts the reader.
