Abstract

This paper aims to explore the semantics and pragmatics of some end-of-utterance modal particles in communication in the Thanh Hoá dialect. It points out that the quantity of end-of-utterance modal particles in communication in the Thanh Hoa dialect is higher than those in standard Vietnamese. They create the unique nuances of Thanh Hoa people in terms of tone, impressiveness and meanings of utterances.
