Abstract

This paper presents some results of research on the diversity of Myrtaceae in Southern Thanh Hoa and Northern Nghe An provinces, spanning from October 2022 to May 2023. A total of 33 species belonging to 9 genera of the Myrtaceae family were identified. The useful plant species of Myrtaceae are categorized as follows: 33 species for essential oils, 18 species as medicinal plants, 16 species for timber, 12 species for edible plants, 5 species for ornamental plants, and 2 species for tannins. The stem forms of Myrtaceae in Southern Thanh Hoa and Northern Nghe An provinces exhibit 4 main forms: small groups of trees with 13 species, large groups of trees and average groups of trees with 7 species each, and shrub groups with 6 species. The Myrtaceae family in Southern Thanh Hoa and Northern Nghe An provinces predominantly comprises the Asian tropical element (42.42%), followed by the crops element (33.33%), endemic and subendemic elements (18.18%), ancient tropical elements and undefined elements (3.03%).
