Abstract

An investigation into the status of Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) in scavenging chickens was conducted through clinical observations, necropsy findings, and the agar gel precipitin (AGP) test across 59 outbreaks in Thanh Hóa province in 2021. The results indicated that out of 23 suspected outbreaks, 19 were confirmed to be IBD outbreaks. The mortality rate among chickens affected by IBD (25.24%) was higher than that of chickens involved in other diseases (13.26%). The highest infection flock rate was observed in chickens aged 1 to 29 days (66.67%), followed by those aged 30 to 45 days (43.75%), and chickens older than 45 days (21.43%). IBD outbreaks predominantly occurred in unvaccinated chicken flocks (80.00%), followed by flocks with one vaccination (70.00%), and those with two vaccinations (21.05%).
