Abstract

The article evaluated the labor force for economic development of Thanh Hoa city in the period of international integration according to the criteria of scale, growth, structure, distribution, and quality. The analysis results show that: Thanh Hoa city has an abundant and rapidly growing labor force thanks to its large population size and the attraction of immigrants from districts and towns in the province; The structure of the labor force is differentiated by age, gender, industry and economic sectors; The labor force is unevenly distributed in communes/wards, causing difficulties for equal economic development; The level of education and technical expertise of the workforce in Thanh Hoa city is quite high, but there is still a mismatch between the qualifications. From the analysis of the current situation, the author has assessed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges posed to the labor force of Thanh Hoa City in the current period.
