Abstract
Rice blast disease, caused by Magnaporthe oryzae, is one of the most destructive disease of rice worldwide. In this study, 9 rice samples infected with blast pathogens were collected in the Spring season 2020 in 3 districts of Thanh Hoa province. Three isolates of the rice blast fungi 1Y, 4Y, and 5Y cultrured on 6 different media showed the corresponding morphological characteristics varied in color and aerial mycelium growth.
The different cultrure media are also well defined for the growth of mycelium, the spore- producing ability and spore germination. While PSA ad PGA helped the mycelium of M. oryzae thrive, the OMA and rice bran medium created the better conditions of sporulation.
The spores harvested from culture media of rice bran, rice flour and wheat flour performed the higher germination rates as compared to the other culture media.
