NGUYÊN NHÂN ĐI LỄ CHÙA CỦA SINH VIÊN TRƯỜNG ĐẠI HỌC HỒNG ĐỨC

Abstract

The research is conducted based on questionnaire survey with 107 students and indepth interviews with 08 students studying at Hong Duc University, including both Buddhist and non-Buddhist students. The result shows that the main motivation for student to go to pagodas is not related to religious backgrounds, nor praying for blessing and material objects. Their purpose is to achieve spiritual values such as serenity, calmness and joy. In addition, going to the pagoda is a traditional habit which is passed from ancestors, due to the impact and influence from the living environment.
