Abstract
The article studies the records o f the author Phan Huy Chu during his voyage to Ha Chau in the early 19th century. Besides the delicate and keen observation o f the strange outside world, the author has shown his admiration for the beauty o f the sea and islands o f the country. Indeed, the notes o f Phan Huy Chu mainly emphasize on the role o f the author, revealing a new perception o f the East - West relationship as well as showing a different view o f historians on the traditional trip visiting new land in China.
