CHATGPT APPLICATION IN ACADEMIC GOVERNANCE AT FACULTY/INSTITUTE LEVEL: AN APPROACH TO INNOVATING HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
Main Article Content
Abstract
In the context of digital transformation and the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), academic governance at the faculty/institute level in higher education is facing increasing demands for innovation. This study aims to analyze the current application of ChatGPT in academic governance and to clarify emerging shifts in the roles of lecturers and academic leaders. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study surveyed 126 administrators, lecturers, and staff members, combined with in-depth interviews with 6 faculty/institute leaders. The findings indicate that ChatGPT effectively supports administrative automation, data analysis, and initial decision-making processes; however, barriers remain in terms of user competency, institutional procedures, ethics, and data security. Based on these findings, the study proposes an AI-Augmented Academic Governance Model (A3GM) to support innovation in higher education governance in Vietnam.
