Abstract

This study aims to build and design a system of self-study supplementary exercises to improve English listening comprehension ability for first-year non-linguistic students at Hong Duc University. The data and information were collected from the set of questions in the survey, interview questions, self-study sheets as well as the results of the pre- and post-experimental test for 66 students of K26 Tourism Management class, Faculty of Social Sciences and K26B Accounting, Faculty of Economics - Business Administration, Hong Duc University, has shown that the group of students who practice supplementary exercises participate more actively in learning as well as receive good results. Learning outcomes have also increased significantly compared to the initial time. This shows that designing and using a system of exercises to teach listening comprehension skills to students should be considered.
