Abstract

This article examines the current status and proposes several measures for developing digital competence among students majoring in Primary Education through the teaching of Mathematics modules at Hong Duc University. The study employed document analysis and synthesis, together with a questionnaire survey administered to 143 students from cohorts K25, K26, and K27. The survey results indicate that digital competence development activities in Mathematics modules were generally rated at a good level. Among these activities, the organization of learning, self-study, and research in digital environments received the highest mean score, followed by the design of digital learning materials and the organization of technology-enhanced learning activities. However, several aspects remained limited, particularly data processing, the use of specialized mathematical software, technology-integrated teaching practice, verification of AI-generated outputs, copyright compliance in digital learning materials, and digital safety. On this basis, the article proposes four measures to improve the effectiveness of digital competence development for students, thereby contributing to meeting the requirements of primary teacher education in the context of digital transformation.
