ARTISTIC SPACE AND ARTISTIC TIME IN THE DIPLOMATIC POETRY COMPOSED BY NGUYEN DE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Nguyen De is recognized as a significant literary figure in Vietnamese literature from the 18th century to the early 19th century. Drawing upon prior scholarly contributions, this article examines the diplomatic poetry composed by Nguyen De through the theoretical lenses of artistic space and artistic time – two fundamental categories in lyrical poetics. Utilizing a combined methodology of literary poetics and analytical–synthetic approaches, the study identifies and interprets the spatial and temporal structures within his poetic works. The analysis reveals that artistic space is primarily articulated through natural space and nostalgic space, while artistic time is expressed through the perception of diurnal time and seasonal time. The study thus offers a refined critical perspective on the formal characteristics of diplomatic poetry in general and the poetic sensibility of Nguyen De in particular.
