Abstract
Mathematization and modeling play an important role in mathematical activities. In this article, we present some basic problems of mathematization according to the realistic mathematics education (RME) approach. From that, we apply this point of view to propose 5 specific steps of the “mathematization” process in teaching calculus. Finally, some illustrative situations are also presented in the paper.
