Abstract

Practical skills training in National Defense and Security Education contributes to the formation of military skills, formal military manners, organizational discipline, and students’ ability to apply national defense and security knowledge in practice. This study was conducted to assess the current status of practical skills training in National Defense and Security Education at the Center for National Defense and Security Education, Hong Duc University, through sociological surveys, practical observations, professional interviews, and analysis of practical test results. The findings indicate that students have positive awareness and attitudes toward practical skills training; however, the level of skill formation varies among student groups. Several limitations were identified, including students’ limited initiative in practice, differences in technical application ability, inconsistency in performing practical tasks, as well as the impacts of teaching organization methods, facilities, training grounds, and learning environments. Based on the analysis of the current situation, the study proposes solutions to improve the effectiveness of practical skills training in National Defense and Security Education, thereby contributing to enhancing the quality of teaching and learning activities at the Center for National Defense and Security Education, Hong Duc University in the current period.
