Abstract

Nguyen Khai is regarded as one of the pioneering writers who made significant contributions to the theme of workers and industry in modern Vietnamese literature. With a keen, insightful, and courageous perspective on life and people, Nguyen Khai works during the period of socialist construction in Northern Vietnam vividly depicted the image of the worker. His writings not only reflected the enthusiastic labor spirit but also exposed the shortcomings of the early days of national reconstruction. In this article, we will provide an overview of the basic features of worker literature within the broader flow of Vietnamese literary development. At the same time, we will analyze the characteristics of the worker character in Nguyễn Khải’s works. Based on that, the article initially clarifies Nguyen Khai outstanding contributions to expanding the scope of thematic reflection, deepening the humanistic dimension, and innovating artistic methods in this field.
