Abstract

In recent years, Vietnam’s education system has undergone fundamental, comprehensive transformations, focusing on developing students' competencies. The 2018 Mathematics curriculum forsecondary education also has clearly identified a group of skills to be developed for students, with mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills being one of the five core skills to be emphasized. “Similar triangles” is one of the abstract concepts for students in the Mathematics curriculum of 8th grade. This article proposes some teaching methods to develop mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills for 8th
grade students when teaching the topic of similar figures.
