Abstract

The Tran Dynasty was a glorious dynasty, marking a fundamental turning point in the thinking and perception o f Vietnamese people. Buddhism at this time was considered the national religion. Buddhism o f True Lam advocated the fusion and harmony of Confucianism, Buddhism and Laoism, along with folk beliefs, and combination among practices o f different religions, expressing the spirit o f selflessness, non-attachment, and transcendence o f Zen Buddhism. In terms o f harmonious feature, thoughts o f True Lam meditation under the Tran dynasty has met the need o f different classes o f the masses. The purpose o f integration is to find a common voice, having a great contribution to ideological stability, unification o f the entire people, creation o f synergy in the context o f the times, meeting historical requirements, and building a great nation o f Vietnamese independence with self-control in all fields. The spirit o f Zen Buddhism o f True Lam was absorbed and influenced by the Mahayana meditation and previous Zen studies, though there was creativity, it still basically kept the essence o f the Buddhism.
