Tóm tắt

This article aims at studying the English vocabulary learning strategies (VLSs) employed by non-English majors at Hong Duc University (HDU) and the frequencies of the strategies used. A set of questionnaires adapted from Schmitt’s taxonomy of VLSs was delivered to 140 non-English majored students as a tool for data collection. The results from data analysis reveal some major findings about frequency of students’ reported overall VLSs use and that of the six main strategy categories, the most frequently used VLSs and the least frequently used VLSs. Based on these findings, the writer has provided some recommendations with the hope of improving English vocabulary teaching and learning at HDU.
