Synthesis and Corrosion Resistance Study of Anion-Doped Salicylate Polypyrrole Films on Carbon Steel Substrates
Main Article Content
Abstract
Polypyrrole (PPy) films were synthesized by electrochemical methods using a stabilization technique in a 0.1M sodium salicylate solution and a 0.1M pyrrole monomer. Scanning electron microscopy was used to observe the film's morphology. The films appeared homogeneous and adhered well to the low-carbon steel substrate. FTIR (Flash Infrared) spectroscopy showed that the salicylate-doped PPy film formed on the steel exhibited typical polypyrrole and sodium salicylate spectra. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) supported the thermal properties of PPy. The improved corrosion protection of PPy was demonstrated by the polarization and electrochemical impedance spectra.
Keywords
